Higher Grade students of Agora Sant Cugat International School have achieved first place in the Catalonia Audiovisual Council Awards, a prestigious regional competition in its 17th year in 2020. More than 80 projects were submitted and the short film produced by Sant Cugat´s students was singled out by the judges.
The Catalan Audio-visual Council uses this competition as a vehicle for promoting education in media and communication at a school level and in the 2020 edition, more than 50 schools from all over Catalonia participated. The Sant Cugat team´s piece, entitled “Els ulls de la lluna” (The Eyes of the Moon) was produced in Catalan and the CAC jury gave special mention to the high quality of work of this piece, particularly for the originality in staging and the artistic direction. The piece stood out for its ability to engage and hold the viewer´s attention throughout the film and for the interpretation of the story´s protagonist. Finally, the expert panel mentioned the film´s excellent sound treatment, use of locations and, above all, the way in which the team clearly drew on each student´s individual expertise.”
Deputy Head of San Cugat International School, Jordi Ross Sabaté, said: “This week has brought great joy to our school community, to see our students´ hard work and talent rewarded with this prestigious and significant award. We congratulate the students who took part and are delighted that they have made the very best possible use of our state-of-the-art audio-visual facilities. This award will give them the confidence to develop their skills and interests in this field in the future and it will inspire other students in the school, strengthening our whole school´s passion for the arts, media and communication.”
