Blyth Academy, our Globeducate private high school in Ontario, with ten campuses, took to Facebook Live on the 1st September to screen an expert panel webinar with the aim of reassuring and engaging parents in the discussion around a safe return to school.
The Facebook LIVE Back to School Assembly panel discussed this uncharted back-to-school season and eased parent anxiety with a thoughtful and hopeful discussion on what to expect. The event addressed the education system’s hopes and aspirations, “the new normal,” and how to cope with returning to school from a parent and student perspective.
Kathy Young, Chief Academic Officer at Blyth Academy was joined by Alyson Schafer, family therapist and parenting expert, Jillian Danford, CTV Host, and Lauren Barr, award-winning educator and sociologist. The panelists engaged the audience and answered hard-hitting questions posed from our community.
Together, the panelists agreed there is no one-size-fits-all solution for schools reopening. Instead, parents and educators have to collaborate to figure out how to put the pieces of this giant puzzle back together. We need to help our students flourish in a world with COVID-19. The panel discussed the importance of hopes and aspirations and of how the value of education and the importance of schools in our children´s lives has been highlighted during this period. Echoing the values of Globeducate´s innovative vision and response to the crisis on a global scale, we can no longer simply do what we have always done.
Whether you watch it in one go or in shorter sessions, the fascinating 45-minute recording of the panel´s discussion on our Globeducate YouTube channel is available by following this link.
