Agora International School Andorra becomes an IB World School and is now authorised to deliver the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) at Post 16 level
Agora International School Andorra becomes an IB World School from September 2020 and is now authorised to teach the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) to senior students. The school now incorporates a programme recognised by the most prestigious universities in the world and is able to offer its students the very best international study opportunities.
Clara Pintat Rossell, Principal, said: “It is with immense pleasure that we welcome this news, being an IB World School is the result of the hard work that everyone at Agora International School Andorra has put into realising our vision over the past years. Our goal is to offer the best study experience a student could look for: one that provides student-centred learning and supports the needs and aspirations of each student. Achieving the status of an authorised IB World School is a proof that we are truly an international school.”
The school, located in the village of L´aldosa, Massana, at an altitude of 1,250 metres above sea level and just 10 minutes from the ski slopes, offers an international education for children from Pre-School to 18, with boarding available from the age of nine. Spanish is the common language of the school, with students also speaking and studying in English and French. Pupils also study Catalan, Andorra´s official language, from Early Years to Post-16, and all boarding students have access to a high-performance sports programme.
Students can register for a full academic year or for just one or two terms. The school was founded in 1999 as Collegi del Pirineu, the first private school in Andorra, providing local families with the option of educating their children at a school which promoted a varied and independent educational system. The school is now one of the principality’s leading schools and it changed its name in 2017 when it joined the Globeducate group of international schools.
